Our Projects

The Thomas Theyer Support Centre

TTF is looking to purchase the 1 to 3 London Rd, Buxton premises where it can offer Therapeutic Services including one to one counselling, creative therapy and signposting. The premises will have at least 3 counselling room and a space for parents to ‘drop in’ for support and signposting and office space.

Currently the charity has an office and small counselling room at 11, Concert Place, Buxton.

Can you help us?

We need to raise £175,000 to complete the purchase of 1 London Road. It’s a lot of money, but if you can spare any amount please donate. With the purchase of 1 London Rd it enables us to develop our charitable activities further including additional space for one to one counselling, group sessions and much more. Please follow the link to our Just giving campaign to donate.

The Thomas Theyer Cottage at Whitehall

White Hall is one of the country’s leading Outdoor Education Centres. Situated in the Peak District National Park, it is perfectly situated for a range of outdoor activities. Thomas and his sister Aimee both enjoyed trips to White Hall when they were at junior school. Thomas however didn’t stay overnight.

Accommodation at White Hall is in the main house and due to the age of the building (most of the buildings at White Hall were built between 1813 and 1851), groups are accommodated in dormitories sleeping 6 – 8 students, which wasn’t suitable for Thomas. He found this overwhelming. Additionally there are lots of stairs and corridors to negotiate.

Initial discussions with White Hall and Derbyshire County Council, who own the centre, were focused on an area at the centre where there was the potential to build a standalone ‘lodge.’ This would provide separate accessible accommodation for groups and the opportunity for families to experience respite breaks. In 2019 a cottage on the grounds became vacant and it was agreed rather than build a ‘lodge’ the better option would be to renovate and extend this property.

In 2021, Architect Claire Wilde from Slater Wilde Associates, drew up plans for this work. These have been reviewed and TTF is now working with White Hall to realise these plans. In 2020 White Hall formed the Friends of White Hall charity, and will fundraise for the project.
