If you would like to read more about why we do what we do, we have our story on the About Thomas page.
As part of our on-going fundraising efforts, we are working towards our plan to build a lodge at White Hall in Buxton. This facility will enable young people like Thomas the opportunity to experience outdoor activities in a safe environment as well as respite breaks.
White Hall opened in 1951 and is one of the country’s leading outdoor education centres. It is frequently the go-to place for schools, groups and solo adventurers to discover new skills, have fun, complete accredited courses whilst being supervised by an experienced team.
Activities available on the grounds include:
High and low ropes
Mountain biking on a purpose-built single-track trail
Rock climbing on the indoor climbing wall
Problem solving/initiative activities
Activities outside of the centre’s grounds are:
Due to the age of the main house, its design is unsuitable for many young people we are working to support. We plan to provide accommodation which has separate and accessible facilities, so that our young people can still benefit from an outdoor education experience whilst delivering a more suitable environment for their needs. It will also be made available for their families and carers too.
