Active Challenges

We believe that keeping active is not just good for physical health but also for mental health. More and more this is being recognised.  At the heart of everything the Thomas Theyer Foundation does, is our understanding of these benefits.   Since the charity started people have raised money, by completing an ‘active challenge’, from a group walk to a skydive.

Here are just a few of the exciting Active Challenges people have done for the charity so far:

  • Ian Dalton – Ice Challenge
  • Nigel Jeff – Fifty Shades of Fell – 50 fell races completed in his 50th year
  • Anthony Nuttall – Skydive
  • The Chickadees – Tough Mudder
  • Patrick Healey and Scott Parkin – Prudential Ride 100
  • Paul King – 400-mile bike ride from Chapel Marketplace to Westminster and back in 24 hours
  • Julia King – London Marathon
  • Alan Theyer and Judith Bradford Knox – The Great North Swim, Isle of ScIlly Swim Challenge, among others
  • Danielle Watson – 21 challenges completed in her 21st year

and so many more.

Runners

Running was Thomas’s passion – ‘Run for Thomas’ in the Buxton Carnival 4 road race which takes place annual in Thomas’s memory each year and/or the Goyt Valley Striders fell race The Whaley Waltz.  Both races Thomas ran in June and July 2013, just before his death.  We also have our multi terrain race – the White Hall Wiggle, which takes place in September – visit our Events page for more information.
